Events: Coaching Junior Developers in a Remote World

Presented by:

Description

One of the challenges that comes with remote working is mentoring young professionals and junior developers. In fact, some companies even stopped hiring junior developers at all because they felt they cannot not give them the coaching they need and deserve. As it seems likely that remote working is here to stay, even if COVID-19 situation improves, it is essential for both companies and those just entering the job market that we learn how to set up effective mentoring programs for junior developers.

In this talk, I will share my experience of setting up a successful mentoring program for junior developers in my company and the insights I've gained in the process. I will discuss what we did to foster the positive personal relationships that make junior developers feel at home, and how we managed to set up the interactive tutoring sessions that are so important for transferring knowledge. I hope that sharing my positive experience with remote coaching will give others the confidence they need to set up programs of their own.
