Leah Berg

Leah Berg has spent the past five years at a large financial institution as a Data Scientist specializing in natural language processing. At PyCon 2022, she and her friend/colleague Ray McLendon presented the sold-out tutorial Introduction to Natural Language Processing. Additionally, Leah is a frequent presenter at internal conferences for the large financial institution she works for and enjoys writing articles for Towards Data Science on Medium.

After landing her first job as a Data Scientist, Leah quickly realized her degree program didn't equip her with the skills she needed. In school, she learned about complex machine learning algorithms and perfectly cleaned and balanced data sets, but the opposite was true in industry. After hearing the same sentiment from every new graduate, Leah and Ray created Data Science Rebalanced in 2020 to help data scientists new to the workforce "rebalance" their skills after completing a degree program, bootcamp, or various other trainings.
