Traveling to Salt Lake City

This page is to help attendees find information regarding the various ways of getting to PyCon US 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

BY AIR — SALT LAKE CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SLC)

Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is approximately 6 miles west of the Salt Palace Convention Center and downtown Salt Lake City. Here you can view the layout of the airport.

The Utah Transit Authority offers TRAX Light-Rail service from the Airport to downtown SLC via the Green Line. You can board at the station and Welcome Center just outside terminal one. Fare is $2.50 and trains run every 15 minutes. Weekday service begins at 5:30 am and runs until 11:30 pm. Ride-sharing is available in Salt Lake City. Follow the airport signs to the pickup area.

Note: International travelers require a valid passport book to travel to the US by air and will need to go through customs and border control on the way to PyCon US 2023. See section below on "Visa Requirements & Invitation Letters".

BY TRAIN — AMTRAK

The Amtrak Station is a part of Salt Lake Central Station, the principal transportation hub in Salt Lake City, and is one mile from the Salt Palace Convention Center.

BY BUS — GREYHOUND

The Salt Lake Intermodal Transit Center is one mile from the Salt Palace Convention Center.

Greyhound is available from all over the USA. Please check the Greyhound website for the possibilities that suit you.

VISA REQUIREMENTS & INVITATION LETTERS

A valid passport is required for all visitors to enter the US. Depending on where you are coming from, you may need additional documents/visas. Please be sure to check the US Customs Website for further details.

Invitation letters: Visitor visa applicants may need letters or other documents indicating the purpose of their visit, evidence of funds to cover accommodation and food, and so on. The PyCon US organizers are happy to provide an invitation letter if you need one; we do suggest, however, that you check with your local embassy or consulate, as requirements differ from country to country. Please email pycon-reg@python.org to request an invitation letter from the conference.
