Talk: Don't Quit, Rotate

Presented by:

A. Jesse Jiryu Davis

Description

There comes a time in a programmer’s life when you’ve worked the same job too long. Quitting might be disruptive; you like your employer, or you have unvested options or other strong ties. But experienced tech employees have another option we should propose more often: rotations. Try other teams in your firm for a few weeks each, then join the one that suits you best. You’ll restart your career momentum without losing the value of your tribal knowledge. I’ll advise you on whether you should rotate, how to get permission, and what you will gain.
