Would you like to learn to code but don’t know where to start? Learning how to code can seem like an impossible task so we’ve decided to put on a workshop to show 60 beginners how it can be done and get them excited about the world of technology!
Join us on 18th April 2020 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA for a workshop where you’ll learn the basics of programming in Python, as well as how to use tools such as Jupyter Notebook to analyse data.
You are invited to apply to the PyCon 2020 Beginners Data Workshop for Minorities. As a workshop attendee, you will have the opportunity to attend PyCon at the student rate ($125 for a full conference ticket including this workshop), which takes place from April 15th - 23rd 2020, so you can dive deeper into the wonderful world of programming and get to know our amazing community. Applications close on Sunday 8th March.
We are looking for volunteers to help mentor the attendees! If you are interested, please apply here. You don’t need to be an expert in programming or Python – we’re teaching the basics! You do need:
In return, you’ll meet interesting new people outside your usual developer group, eternal gratitude from your group of attendees, and you’ll be helping to break down stereotypes around what a developer “looks like”. Plus you can add all that on your CV!
