Ciro Cattuto

Ciro Cattuto is a physicist who leads the Data Science Laboratory of the ISI Foundation in Turin, Italy. His undergraduate and doctoral training are in Statistical and Computational Physics. During his PhD he worked as a software engineer for companies and startups based in Italy, California and Germany. He carried out post-doctoral research at the University of Michigan (USA), at the Frontier Research System of RIKEN (Japan) and at the Enrico Fermi Center (Italy). His work focuses on measuring and modeling complex phenomena in socio-technical systems, with applications to social media, social networks and epidemiology. He is a founder of the SocioPatterns project, that uses wearable proximity sensors to mine the structure and dynamics of face-to-face human contacts in hospitals and schools.
