Travis Oliphant

Travis has a Ph.D. from the Mayo Clinic in Biomedical Imaging and B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University. Since 1997, he has worked extensively with Python for numerical and scientific programming, most notably as principal author of NumPy and SciPy which are now maintained and advanced by an active community. After working in academia for several years as an assistant professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Travis turned to industry and currently focuses on promoting array-oriented computing and collaborative data-centric workflows with wide-spread shared-data and code abstractions. Travis is currently co-founder and CEO of Continuum Analytics, a Python-centric company that provides training, service, and products to help organizations get insights from their data using Python.
