Speaker Profile

Jessica McKellar

I am a software engineer at Ksplice, a software startup in Cambridge, MA with a subscription service for rebootless kernel updates on Linux.

I am an organizer for the Boston Python Meetup, a 2**10+ member Python user group. We hold several events each month geared towards Python programmers of all experience levels, including monthly lectures and project nights. I am the lead organizer, lecturer, and curriculum developer for our recurring Boston Python Workshop, which runs every 2 months and has been hugely successful at bringing new and diverse people into the local Python community and inspiring other outreach events across the country.

I am a PSF member and am on the PSF Outreach and Education Committee. I am also a maintainer for the Twisted and OpenHatch open source projects, which are both written in Python. I also do a lot of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) outreach at local schools.
