Joe Spadola is a senior software engineer at ClickHouse and the open-source maintainer of ClickHouse Connect. Trained as a mechanical engineer, he started out writing high-performance simulation code for fluid flow and heat transfer in C++ before switching to Python in 2006 and hasn’t looked back since. He’s spent much of his career focused on performant Python, including a decade building high-performance DSP, fatigue, and signal analysis systems, as well as work on large-scale data platforms and security pipelines analyzing open source ecosystems for malware, where he’s helped identify and report hundreds of malicious packages. Along the way, he’s co-founded an underwater robotics company, built semi-truck-sized drones, and holds two patents.
