Peter Danenberg is a Senior Software Engineer at Google DeepMind, where he leads zero-to-one development for Gemini. His work focuses on the frontier of autonomous agents and interactive AI, having spearheaded projects such as Gemini Agent, Gemini Canvas, and the AR/XR integrations of Project Astra. Over a decade at Google, Peter has built large-scale neural-semantic backends for Google Assistant and fundamental reasoning loops for Bard/Gemini.
Beyond production systems, Peter is a dedicated educator and open-source advocate. He organizes biweekly Gemini workshops for hundreds of developers and co-created Little PAIPer—a Socratic AI learning platform—alongside Peter Norvig. Many in the developer community also know him as the original creator of Roxygen, the widely-used documentation system.
Peter’s technical work is informed by a unique multi-disciplinary perspective, with a background spanning Computer Science, Philosophy, and Comparative Literature across USC, Harvard, and the University of Freiburg.
