Dan Furman is a Distinguished Engineer at Capital One, working to help make better credit decisions through faster access to high quality data. His role as a solutions architect is to ensure that teams are strategically able to deploy and scale in cloud native platforms. Over the past five years, Dan helped design and build some of the first critical path Lambda-based services at Capital One, and helps teams use AWS Lambda to scale their Python applications and lower total cost of ownership.
Passion for serverless technology comes from his history before joining Capital One, where he worked as a civilian and consultant in the U.S. Department of Defense on mainframes, system administration, and ETL across agencies. Joining Capital One and focusing on serverless deliveries, he can attest to the difference between sussing out where capacity can be pulled to run code, and shrinking production deployment time to hours from quarters! Dan has 10 years of professional Python delivery experience leading teams in companies ranging from <50 employees to >50,000 employees, and many things in between.
