Gökhan Sever

Gökhan Sever is currently a Master’s student in atmospheric sciences program in the University of North Dakota. Starting with January 2011, he is going to be pursuing his PhD education in the same field in the University of Wyoming under the advisory of Dr. Jefferson R. Snider. His research focuses on investigation of observed and modelled properties of aerosol and cloud measurements in thermodynamical and microphysical contexts. Following his self introduction to Python in the solitary days of Grand Forks winter in 2009, he has been actively using the language and its scientific ecosystem in his data analysis, modelling, and visualization jobs. Gökhan was one of the sponsored students who participated in the SciPy 2009 conference. He volunteered to gave two introductory level tutorials to popularize the use of Python centered scientific computing in his current department and university. Gökhan is 27 years old, natively speaks in Turkish and fluent in English languages. He blogs at pycloud.blogspot.com about Python and various other research/personal interests.
