Keynote Speakers at PyCon 2005

There will be three keynotes, one on each day of the conference.


Jim Hugunin, Microsoft Corporation: "Python on the .NET Platform"

Jim Hugunin is well-known in the Python world for his pioneering work on JPython (now Jython), and more recently for the IronPython .NET implementation of Python.

Jim joined Microsoft's Common Language Runtime team in August last year to continue his work on Iron Python and further improve the CLR's support for dynamic languages like Python.


Guido van Rossum

Guido van Rossum is the creator of Python, one of the major free scripting languages. He created Python in the early 1990s at CWI in Amsterdam, and is still actively involved in the development of the language.

In 1995 he moved to the US; first to work for CNRI in Reston, VA as a researcher, then for Zope Corporation as Director of PythonLabs, and since 2003, after a move to the SF bay area, for Elemental Security.

Greg Stein: "Python at Google"

Greg Stein is an engineering manager at Google, working with the Blogger team, and is the current Chairman of the Apache Software Foundation.

Prior to that, Greg was a director of engineering at CollabNet where he managed the Subversion project and releases of their CollabNet Enterprise Edition product. He also worked at Microsoft as a Development Manager, in the Commerce Server and Site Server groups. Greg was a co-founder and the Corporate Technologist of eShop, one of the first electronic commerce software companies, before its acquisition by Microsoft.

In Greg's spare time, he works on many open source projects, such as Subversion, WebDAV, and has contributed several Python applications and modules, including ViewCVS. He also works on various Apache projects.
