Volunteer for Pycon 2007

We're looking for volunteers to help run PyCon. If you're interested, please sign up:

On Wednesday evening we need volunteers to help wire the conference, both network cabling/hubs/access points and taping down power strips. We take possession of the hotel facilities at 6pm.

On Thursday afternoon and evening we need volunteers to help stuff the attendee tote bags and do further wiring of the Grand Ballroom and Mesquite room.

You may also subscribe to the pycon-organizers mailing list to keep up on developments. Please browse the archives a bit, to catch up with the discussion before jumping in.

Don't miss any PyCon announcements! Subscribe to the PyCon Announcement mailing list.

You can discuss PyCon with other interested people by subscribing to http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/pycon-interest

Please help support the Python Software Foundation which makes this conference possible!

Volunteers get a nice black staff T-shirt.

Specific Volunteer Activities

  • Help create this year's "Attendee Feedback" form.
  • Help create this year's "Attendee Information" handout.
  • Help create this year's "Speaker Information" handout.
  • people to run the registration booth.
  • people to act as room chairs.
  • people to create signs (hotel navigation, talk schedules, shared-dining meeting places, notices on bulletin board)
  • someone to look into wired networking equipment and options; the hotel will provide one ethernet jack per room.
  • someone to look into what is needed re microphones, projectors, power at podiums, etc.
  • it sure would be nice if a web community like Django, Turbogears, Zope, etc. came forward and created a web-based attendee form, with dynamic stats that can be viewed during the conference.
  • someone to consider how many AC plugs are needed; the hotel will wire/tape as we need, at a price per, but we have to tell them how many and where.
  • sponsorship-insert stuffers into attendee bags, either the evening before the tutorials or anytime during tutorial day for those not teaching/attending tutorials.
  • Add the conference to online calendar sites.
  • Customize the S5 presentation stylesheets for PyCon, so that attendees can use it to write their slides.

If you can help with any of these, please subscribe to the pycon-organizers mailing list or email the volunteer coordinator, David Goodger.

Thanks!
