Audio/Video Recordings of PyCon Events

Audio Recordings

As in previous years, the audio of events for PyCon 2007 will be recorded. Small Linux-based black boxes will be placed in each room and hooked into the room audio system. After the conference, the data will be cut up into individual talks, labeled with ID3 tags and made available in the talks audio database. The audio will be available in FLAC, Ogg Vorbis and MP3 formats.

The tutorials will not be recorded. Many of our instructors give these tutorials for a living. They are graciously presenting at PyCon at a reduced rate, giving back to the community. Instructors are asked to submit their materials to be included in a PyCon 2007 Tutorial Compendium which will be sold at the conference; proceeds going to the PSF.

Release Forms

Whether a talk appears in the talks database depends upon us obtaining permission from each speaker. Any speaker who doesn't not explicitly grant us permission will not have his audio made available. The Release Form can be downloaded and filled out before the conference. Printouts will be available at the registration desk and included in your presenter materials. There are 3 ways in which the release form can be submitted:

  1. Faxed to +1 972-531-1078
  2. Scanned and e-mailed to jeff@taupro.com
  3. Scanned and uploaded to the schedule app:
* The file should have the name 'ReleaseForm_<name>.<ext>'
* pdf, png, gif, and jpg are supported
* general upload instructions can be found on the SpeakerNotes page

Video Recordings

I, Jeff Rush, are not handling the video recording side of things (I don't own a camera) but I know several people are bringing theirs. For 2005 we video-taped I believe every session but so far there has not been a supply of volunteer labor to perform post-processing to make it available.
