Help Needed
We need on-site help for registration & session chairs. Wednesday and Thursday evening, we'll have pizza for volunteers!
Badge Pickup & Registration
There are going to be a lot of people this year, so try to get to the registration desk early. It's open from 7:30 AM on Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday.
Atlanta Weather
During the conference, we recommend a light sweater for the tutorials and talks as well; hotels often keep the temperature lower than some people like it.
The Elegant Stitches booth will have Python sweatshirts for sale!
Generally expect mild weather, to below freezing on many nights - rain, and sometimes some snow.
Sources of forecast information:
Please search the internet for "15 day weather forecast atlanta" to get more of an idea of trends likely for the time of the conference (e.g. rain, gradually warmer).
Folks arriving to USA from tropical regions are advised to stock themselves with wollen/fleece apparel (caps, gloves, wollen socks, sweaters), including snow boots and hoodie hackets.
Network
Hotel
The Hyatt provides in-room internet access. The basic rate is $9.95/day and there is also a faster "business plan" available for $12.95. If you are a Platinum level member of Hyatt's Gold Passport club the fees are waived.
Hyatt is currently running a promotion in which new Gold Passport members receive a half year of Platinum status for free just for signing up (http://goldpassport.com/trialoffer).
Conference
PyCon will have complimentary wireless network coverage of all meeting and "quiet" rooms, and coverage of the main corridor areas around these rooms. Visit the PyCon networking page for the latest information. Ask someone around you or check near registration for a terminal to visit the wiki.

Hotel Parking and Driving Notes
In addition to the parking available at the hotel ($27/day[!]), there are several area surface lots within walking distance ranging from $5 per day on up.
It's not secured per se, but there is a lot just adjacent to the SunTrust Garden Offices which is regularly patrolled by SunTrust Plaza security. It is a daily parking lot and the cost per day is $7. If you pre-pay for multiple days, you'll be charged to reenter the lot.
Also, remember that there is a certain amount of risk associated with parking in an unsecured downtown parking lot over night. The public entrance is located on Ralph McGill Blvd, near the Peachtree Center intersection. The exact address is 303 Peachtree Street Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30308-3201.
There is another parking lot at 31 Baker St, 30303 that's even cheaper ($5/day) and very close to the hotel. More info at http://www.atlantadowntown.com/go/31-baker-street
Another option is to park at a MARTA station with long-term parking (white cars in solid black circles), $8/day.
Sponsors and Vendors
We have a ballroom and a lounge full of sponsors & vendors. Our vendors will be selling Python-related merchandise and many of our sponsors will be hiring. If you're in the job market, bring business cards & resumes. Come prepared!
