Travis E Oliphant (Enthought, Inc.) bio
Before moving to Austin, TX to join Enthought, Inc. in the Fall of 2007, Travis Oliphant taught Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECEN) from 2001 at Brigham Young University where he earlier received Bachelor's Degrees in ECEN and Math (1995) and a Master's Degree (1996) in Electrical Engineering. He earned the Ph.D. in 2001 from Mayo Graduate School where he first learned Python and used it for analyzing multi-dimensional MRI and ultrasound data in the context of inverse problems. At BYU, he continued using Python to analyze data coming from a scanning impedance imaging system and taught inverse theory. He is the principal author of NumPy (numpy.scipy.org), a major contributor to SciPy (www.scipy.org), and the author of "Guide to NumPy" (www.trelgol.com).
