Welcome to PyCon 2006!!!

Attendance Numbers

PyCon is now over. We had about 410 attendees. 130 people were here for the Tutorial Day on Thursday, and about 50 people stayed for the sprints.

Reviews and Stories About PyCon 2006

Many people are blogging and commenting on how PyCon went this year. Here are links to some of the sites:

Please Provide Feedback on the Convention

This year our feedback forms are online! Take a moment to fill out the Convention Feedback Form. It's a way for us to make next years convention even better!

Place Your Pin on the PyCon Google Map

I'd like to remind everyone to place their push pin on our PyCon Google Map. It's a way for us to see where people are coming from, and the mapping software supports custom keywords or topics, for finding like-minded souls.

Took a Tutorial? Let us know how we did!

This year our feedback forms are online and broken into sections. Take a moment to fill out a page about each tutorial you took, so we can communicate your opinions to the tutors and improve them for next year.

Let us know your thoughts about the talks!

And we have separate feedback forms with a page about each talk.

 PyCon 06
 February 24-26, 2006
 Addison, Texas (near Dallas)

Held at the Dallas/Addison Marriott Quorum hotel.

PyCon is a community-oriented conference targeting developers of Python applications and the Python interpreter itself.

PyCon gives you opportunities to:

  • see a variety of presentations, panels, and impromptu discussions.
  • learn about significant advances in the Python development community.
  • meet fellow developers from around the world.
  • participate in programming sprints with fellow developers.

The organizers aim to make the conference affordable and accessible to all.

A day of tutorials will be held the day before the conference, on Thursday February 23, and a four-day sprint will be held after the conference, from Monday February 27 to Thursday March 2.

PLEASE RVSP FOR PARTY: On Saturday evening, February 25, 2006, there will a sponsored party at Nerdbooks.com (photo tour). There is no charge to attend but we have established an RSVP system because we need to know how much food/drink is needed.

Please make your plans known to us, by visiting the RSVP poll at EveningParties, even if you are not attending.

TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN THE HOTEL AND THE BOOKSTORE IS COMPLEMENTARY! TWO CHARTERED BUSES WILL BE RUNNING BACK AND FORTH.

Activities

Registration is now open. Conference registration is US$250 (US$150 student).
